FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) – The Alaska Department of Health recently announced the launch of a new online portal, Alaska Connect, which includes all Division of Public Assistance programs.
For the many Alaskans who receive some form of social assistance, including medical benefits such as Medicaid or Medicare or food assistance such as the SNAP or WIC programs, this means they can access information about all of their programs in one online location. Users can access this new portal by registering for a Myalaska account or using their existing Myalaska login credentials.
The Department of Health hopes this new and streamlined option will be more user-friendly and modern than previous methods of accessing public programs. They say users will be able to access the Alaska Connect portal to apply for public assistance programs, renew their benefits, report changes and upload documents all in one place.
The ministry says more improvements to the program are planned in the future, which will hopefully include features such as the ability to check your notifications, application status and benefits.
Alaska residents who already receive medical or nutritional assistance need not worry; reapplying is not necessary. The Department of Health says all Alaska residents’ account information will be accessible on the new portal. If you do not wish to sign up for the new online portal, you will still have access to all services through the traditional avenues, including the separate service websites and offices.
The Alaska Connect portal can be accessed here.
