This year, 33 Newman FFA students exhibited animals at the Stanislaus County Fair, including turkeys, sheep, pigs and dairy cows.
We started the week with pigs. All nine members did extremely well in their market classes. Logan Garcia took second place and Juliette Waite took first place. In the show category, Richard and Kyleigh Brace took fifth place.
Next up was the sheep show. The 10 sheep exhibitors all had a successful week and all students placed in the top five in their market classes. Charlize Lemus placed second in the market class and Madison Durbala placed sixth in the Intermediate Showmanship category.
On the same two days, our goat exhibitors did an excellent job and Madison Beach became Reserve Middleweight Champion.
At our dairy cattle show, Daniel Gomes took second place with his Holstein winter calf in his last year.
Closing out the week was the turkey show where Newman FFA dominated the fair this year with their turkeys. All placed in the top four including many like Kamilla Gonzalez and Logan Garcia in first and second place to name a few of the top ten. The highlight was Raymundo Alfaro exhibiting the Supreme Grand Champion Market Turkey of the entire Stanislaus County Fair.
All members did a great job braving the heat during the fair all week, giving their best and winning awards.
