One of the biggest renovations in 2024 will be at the Haunted Mansion. While this attraction is always closed for a few days or weeks in January for its annual renovation (and to remove the seasonal Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay), this year’s closure will be much longer. With changes announced for both the queue and exit, the Haunted Mansion is expected to remain closed until the end of August. When the attraction reopens as the Haunted Mansion Holiday, work will still be underway – so a virtual queue will be used.

Tarzan’s Treehouse is a permanent feature of Adventureland that has been closed since September 2022. This closure is permanent; it is was redesigned with different themes in the Adventureland Treehouse.

Splash Mountain, a permanent feature of Critter Country, has also officially closed forever. The attraction will be redesigned into Tiana’s Bayou Adventurewhose opening is planned for the end of 2024.

Additionally, the Star Wars Launch Bay at Tomorrowland remains closed. It is unclear when this attraction might reopen or if Disneyland ultimately has other plans for this attraction.

In 2024, the following restaurants and park areas at Disneyland will also be closed or renovated:

  • Bridge from New Orleans Square to Galaxy’s Edge
  • Land of Animalsincluding Briar Patch and Pooh Corner
  • Hungry Bear Restaurant: closes on May 1st, reopening to be announced

As part of the redesign of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Critter Country is undergoing a major remodeling project. As a result, Critter Country is currently closed entirely. The reopening schedule has not yet been determined, so you should avoid this area of the park.

When Critter Country reopens, it will be renamed Bayou Country to accommodate the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the redesign of the shop. The Hungry Bear Restaurant will also be redesigned and reopened as Hungry Bear Barbecue Festival. You can find out more about the new theming here.

In 2024, the following attractions at California Adventure will be closed for renovations:

  • Animation Academy: closes on August 5th, reopens on August 29th
  • The Beast’s Library in the Magic Workshop within Disney Animation – permanently closed
  • Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar
  • World of Colors – ONE: closes on September 9, reopening to be announced

While most of the above attractions do not yet have a known reopening date, they are expected to each undergo seasonal renovations. These may be extended closures, but all are scheduled to fully reopen sometime in 2024.

Beast’s Library, which was located in the Sorcerer’s Workshop in the Disney Animation building, is the only permanent closure so far, scheduled for 2024. This former attraction will be reimagined in a new location for the Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar, which currently has no opening date announced.

Closures and renovations in Downtown Disney

The Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort is currently undergoing a major renovation that will fundamentally change the entertainment, dining, and shopping options available here. Here’s a look at the current closures and renovations at Downtown Disney for 2024:

  • Catal Restaurant permanently closed
  • Bar Uva permanently closed

Both Catal Restaurant and Uva Bar are permanently closed and their former locations have been converted into two new dining venues: Paseo and Centrico.

While much of the renovations to existing — and open — restaurants are complete, construction may still be taking place throughout the Downtown Disney District. That’s because permanently closed spots like the old AMC theaters are being converted into new dining and entertainment options. If you head toward the old Rainforest Cafe (now Star Wars Trading Post) and ESPN Zone (now a pop-up shop), you’ll likely encounter ongoing construction.
