The BacheloretteIn the episode “Men Tell All,” 15 of Jenn Tran’s ex-boyfriends were in the studio to talk about their best and worst memories of season 21. And of course, the evening wouldn’t have been complete without the return of Sam McKinney.
For those looking to brush up on their knowledge of All Things Sam M., the 27-year-old construction contractor from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, went from first impression to worst impression, saying incredibly offensive things to Jenn on their last date.
When asked to share his first impression of Jenn in Episode 6, Sam M. recalled, “I got out of the limo and thought, ‘This girl is not my type.'” Instead of stopping there, he continued, “I thought the Bachelorette was going to be Daisy (Kent) or Maria (Georgas),” referring to two fan favorites Bachelor Participants of the 28th season.
Shortly after Sam M. appeared on The Men Tell All, fourth-place finisher Jeremy Simon brought up a jaw-dropping comment from Episode 6: “He talks a lot about eyes – Jenn’s eyes – but I think he may have had eyes for Maria or Daisy too.” Sam M. then tried to defend himself and got into an argument with the guys.
“I’m really glad you brought this up. Honestly. When we all came here, we had no idea who the Bachelorette was going to be,” Sam said. “If anyone sits up here and says they didn’t think it was going to be Daisy or Maria, you’re liars.”
Before the men hit back, Sam added, “What I’m saying is, I told my parents, ‘I don’t think it’s going to work out with either of them.’ Honestly.” As you can imagine, that comment made matters worse, because the men asked, why the hell would he have approached me? The Bachelorette if he didn’t realize that his two suspected clues worked?! (Mathematics is not mathematics, as the saying goes.)
When asked why he continued watching the show knowing that Daisy or Maria weren’t the main characters, Sam said: “Because it wasn’t either of them and Jenn was someone I didn’t know. And after two conversations with her, I thought, ‘Damn, this girl is real.’ So yeah, that’s where that statement came from. It wasn’t disrespectful to her. And if it came across that way, then I can apologize again for my performance because I know I need to work on that.”
When the men reminded Sam that regardless of his intention, the comment Was incredibly disrespectful and he shouldn’t have said it, he agreed “100 percent.” The season 21 contestant spent the evening defending himself and taking responsibility, and he also had a long overdue reunion with Jenn.
I wonder how Jenn Trans Bachelorette Journey ends? Tune in to the three-hour live finale on ABC on Tuesday, September 3 at 8 p.m. ET.
