Give it up, dude. According to the Associated Press, a federal judge has ordered pharmaceutical bro Martin Shkreli to surrender all digital copies of the rare, unreleased Wu-Tang Clan album. Once upon a time in Shaolin to his lawyers by Friday. According to Monday’s ruling, he must also provide the names of everyone he distributed the music to and how much revenue he made from it by Sept. 30. Shkreli bragged for years about owning the only physical copy of the album, but was forced to surrender it after being convicted of securities fraud in 2017. In June of this year, he was sued by PleasrDAO, the cryptocurrency collective that bought the album for $4.75 million. PleasrDAO has accused Shkreli of keeping digital copies and sharing them with his social media followers. A lawyer for PleasrDAO said in a statement that Monday’s ruling was “an important victory for our client,” adding, “We are pleased that Judge Chen recognized that immediate relief was necessary to thwart Mr. Shkreli’s ongoing bad actions.” A lawyer for Shkreli said the judge’s order “maintains the perceived status quo” of the proceedings and has “no bearing on the ultimate outcome of the case.” And all this over an album whose authenticity was already being questioned! Perhaps Wu-Tang Clan will feel inspired to poke fun at him in another song?
