When Jana Duggar Earlier this month, she married Stephen Wissmann in Arkansas, but one notable person was missing from her wedding reception – her sister Jill Duggar Dillard.

When a fan asked Jill via Instagram on Thursday, August 22, why she didn’t make the list, the reality star admitted she wasn’t entirely sure.

“I don’t know, but it should always be the bride’s decision,” Jill wrote.

Although Jill was not one of Jana’s bridesmaids, this was not the case for the To count To the star’s other sisters.

Jessa Duggar Seawoods was Jana’s maid of honour; while Jana’s sister-in-law, Abbie Duggarand sisters Joy Anna Forsyth, Johanna Duggar, Jinger Duggar Vuolo And Jordyn Duggar were all bridesmaids.

When Jill married her husband Derick Dillard In 2014, 34-year-old Jana was part of her sister’s wedding party.

Although Jill still attends family gatherings, she has spoken openly in the past about her strained relationship with her parents. Michelle And Jim Bob Duggarand her 18 siblings.

“There was some distance there,” Jill explained in a YouTube Q&A in 2020. “We’re not exactly on good terms with some of my family members. We’ve had some disagreements and stuff, but we’re definitely working on healing and recovery. We just need to take some time and heal and just do what’s best for our family right now.”

During her appearance on The Unplanned Podcast in January, Jill further explained that while she can still “come together” and have “a great time” with her family, there are moments that are “still hard.”

“When I get together with one of my siblings and things aren’t the way they used to be, part of me is sad about it,” Jill said. “I wish things could go back to the way they used to be. But back then, the way I describe it in the book (Calculate the costs), it’s like, “Would I just trade ignorance as bliss and this pseudo-bliss for where we are now? No.”

While Jana has not spoken about her sister’s absence from her bridesmaid line-up, 19 children and counting Stern opened for People about their “classic” and “elegant” wedding in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, which took place in front of 500 guests.

“I think it’s one of those things that all girls imagine doing one day,” Jana told the outlet.

“For me, it felt like, ‘Okay, this is never going to happen.’ But now I’m starting to realize,” she continued. “Reality is starting to set in. And I’m like, ‘Wow, this is really something I’ve dreamed of.’ And just to see it come true is incredible and kind of hard to believe. It’s a dream come true.”
