William Karlsson has touched the lives of countless Vegas Golden Knights fans. Whether through his contributions on the ice or his charitable work off the ice, the Swedish forward has turned heads at T-Mobile Arena. That’s part of the job of an “Original Misfit” who set the franchise record for most goals in a single season (43).
His performance on the ice has helped the Golden Knights over the years. In seven seasons with the team, he has scored 152 goals and 215 assists. The “Misfit” is also the record holder for most shorthanded goal scorers, scoring 12 total goals with Vegas. He is tied in that category with Reilly Smith, who was traded in the 2023 offseason.
But fans should also see a lighter side of their beloved “Misfit.” Everyone loves a good personality, especially when that person can hang with the crowd. Thankfully, the Golden Knights were fortunate enough to be able to sign this unique player who has become part of the Las Vegas community.
This is for those who don’t know Karlsson and his personal side. It’s time to get to know the man who gave the infamous “Day F****** One” speech and serenaded his buddy Jonathan Marchessault with praise. Who is the man known as “Wild Bill” and what are his favorite things to do? What is he most passionate about in life? Let’s spend some time with the Swedish center and see what makes him tick.
When William Karlsson isn’t scoring goals at the T-Mobile Arena (or anywhere else in the world), he’s cheering for his favorite soccer team. That’s AIK, whose soccer he followed passionately as a child. His dream was to one day make the team and play in the World Cup. Imagine Karlsson playing against Cristiano Ronaldo in front of a global audience.
The Swedish striker also has a Golden Retriever/Jindo mix that he rescued from a Korean dog meat farm. His name is Obi-Wan, named after the famous Star Wars character. Obi-Wan has developed a cult following among Vegas Golden Knights fans and hockey fans with his own Instagram account. This is what happens when you use the Force as a cute dog.
Karlsson also tried boiled egg on spaghetti, as his teammate Jonathan Marchessault suggested. This way, he got more protein in his diet, which made him stronger. Of course, Marchessault teased him about the food, saying he was a “psychotic.” Still, this is old-fashioned fun between two long-time friends, and it was also enjoyed by Golden Knights fans.
