Austin Teras dominates the Open Competition 200 on the opening night of…

The first green flag went to the No. 29 Austin Teras and Matt Dow in the No. 84 SLM. They remained the two lead drivers until the first caution period came out on lap 187 when Pete Rondeau in the No. 60S car and Rusty Poland in the No. 44 car collided.

While some riders were getting ready for the long race, Bubba Pollard was doing what he always does no matter where he races. The Senoia, Georgia native was going full throttle and securing positions as he charged forward.

He made it into the top five within 20 laps and was already in fourth place by lap 30. During this time, there were side-by-side and three-by-three driver battles in the midfield.

Meanwhile, Teras was in top form, passing everything but one rule as he worked his way up to fifth place by lap 67. He passed Pollard, and on lap 69 the Georgia driver retired to the pits and that was the end for the evening.

On the 84th On the track, Teras lapped the third-place Dow car. At the halfway point, he lapped cars in the top 10 for the second time, showing once again that he had his sights set on the $10,000 prize.

Rondeau spun in Turn 3 on Lap 107, triggering the second caution period, with only Teras and Doiron on the lead lap. During the caution period, she and several other cars pulled into pit lane for tires, fuel and adjustments. Before racing could resume, Hall had to bring his No. 4 back into pit lane because sparks were coming from the left front tire area.

That put Dow back in the lead for the lap 110 restart with Jimmy Renfrew Jr. in the No. 0, who didn’t pit. From there, the rest of the laps were uneventful, allowing Teras to continue his dominance en route to the win.

The top five finishers were Doiron, Renfrew, Dow and Hall.
