In the Wild Baldur’s Gate 3 mod, companions tell what they really feel

Why appease your party members in Baldur’s Gate 3 when you can annoy them at any time? Thanks to a mod, you can even make your companions show the ultimate expression of contempt towards your protagonist.

Baldur’s Gate 3 follows the old Mass Effect/TellTale format where your actions have positive or negative effects on your companions. It’s important to keep an eye on these, especially if you want to romance one of your allies, as a high approval rating is required to get in their pants (most of the time, anyway).

Users on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit account have shared some of the most outlandish mods available for the game, including ones that give Withers a giant pair of breasts and turn Astarion into Michael Jackson. One mod caught fans’ attention as it heavily altered the disapproval dialogue.

The “That’s Cringe” mod for Baldur’s Gate 3 can be found on Nexus Mods. Created by hellions-heart, this mod changes the message “(character) disapproves” to “(character) finds this embarrassing.” There is also an alternate version that reads “(character) finds this justified.”

“The embarrassment thing sounds wild,” wrote one player, while another said, “… thinks that’s embarrassment” is disapproval, “… is s—g, crying, puking” is approval; that’s the climax.”

Users on the Ok Buddy Baldur Reddit were also excited about the mod. “This embarrassing mod is definitely going on the mod list,” promised one user, while another said, “I actually installed the embarrassing one. A small thing, but it’s damn funny, especially in serious situations.”

Reminiscent of the classic “Thanks Obama” option in FromSoftware games, where the “You died” message was replaced with the former president’s meme, this mod adds some levity to the often dark and grim experience.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has tons of fantastic mods, some of which add classes, subclasses, races, and whole new wardrobes for characters. These are all great for expanding your experience, but sometimes it’s the joke mods that stick with you, especially if you’re cringing in the Forgotten Realms.
