It seems like the PS5 was released yesterday, but it’s already been 4 years since the console became so successful that for almost a year it was pretty difficult to even get hold of one. Although we’re relatively far into the console’s life cycle, there are still many features (both new and old) that can improve your experience, like the ability to connect your keyboard and mouse, and we’re here to help you with that.

What can you do with a mouse and keyboard on a PS5?
Source: Acefast
The first (and most likely) function you’ll want to connect a mouse and keyboard for is to play games with more precision and input options. However, keep in mind that the game you want to use the mouse and keyboard for will need to support them (and some competitive games, like the recently released console version of Valorant, may even get you banned for using them).
Strategy games like Civilization VI benefit greatly from the increased accuracy and input options you get by hooking up a mouse and keyboard. For FPS games with crossplay, hooking up a mouse and keyboard evens the odds, allowing you to just fire up and shoot down those pesky PC gamers without them knowing what hit them. Additionally, a mouse and keyboard setup also lets you navigate PlayStation menus much faster, making things like browsing the web, typing messages, browsing the store, and browsing your games catalog a breeze.

How to connect your keyboard and mouse to your PS5
Simple steps to get started
Let’s start with how to connect a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, since the steps are a bit simpler for wired options:
- Make sure your devices are set to pairing mode.
- Navigate to Bluetooth settings (Settings > Accessories > General > Bluetooth accessories).
- Pair your devices.
For a wired connection, all you need to do is plug your keyboard into one of the USB ports on the back of the PS5 and your mouse into one of the USB ports on the front (if you plug both devices into the back, you’ll get an error message saying there are too many devices connected).
If you go to the Accessories section, there are some settings and customizations you can make, such as your keyboard language, key repeat rate and key repeat delay, and options for your mouse’s right/left handedness and pointer speed.
