The AI chatbot is available to hacked developers.
YouTube creators are often exposed to hacking attacks and incidents that can ultimately be costly for them as they lose access to their account and content.
YouTube is cracking down on hackers by helping users whose accounts have been compromised. The platform relies on Google’s AI technology to combat these bad actors and restore hacked accounts. Social platforms are widely used, but if yours is hacked, the compensation system has so far been just abysmal. YouTube wants to change that and is using AI to simplify the process and help users, especially creators, restore their account.
YouTube AI chatbot to the rescue
YouTube has integrated an AI chatbot into its support page that is supposedly good enough to help you recover your account. The chatbot is available through the YouTube Help Center, where the hacked victim is asked a series of questions that will help them secure their Google account and revert any changes made by the attackers.
The chatbot currently only supports English, but more languages will be added gradually. Google expects that this service will eventually be available to all YouTubers.
Lack of personal touch
YouTube is using AI to bypass the connection with creators, and this move is unlikely to please the community. The platform has always steered clear of potential issues when users really prefer to talk directly to someone at YouTube.
The introduction of an AI chatbot puts them even further away. Also, the chatbot doesn’t really seem to be based on Google’s GenAI technology, but just an iteration that Google deems powerful enough to handle such issues and complaints. Chatbots are being used on various technology platforms and the general feedback has been pessimistic, mainly due to the way the technology is integrated and how it works on the frontend.
