HTC’s Viverse announces no-code builder for virtual worlds

HTC, the maker of the HTC Vive virtual reality headset, said its Viverse platform has created a no-code builder for virtual worlds.

The Viverse Create platform is a suite of tools that enables developers to create and share interactive multiplayer worlds on any device, anywhere.

Viverse Create’s cross-platform “no installation” feature allows users to share their worlds on any device (VR headset, mobile phone, PC or Mac), allowing everyone to enjoy interactive entertainment without the need for a gaming console.

“The days of locking your creations away in your own virtual world are over. With Viverse Create, we’re giving creators the tools to build any world they want and share it with their friends, parents – even their grandparents – so they can experience it through a simple, secure, connectable link,” Andranik Aslanyan, Head of Growth at HTC Viverse, said in a statement. “Whether it’s virtual meetups, live events or multiplayer matches, anyone can join Viverse Create and prove that the metaverse isn’t dead; it’s just waiting for the rest of us to catch up.”

There are two ways to build in Viverse Create. First, with a no-code building tool that allows users to easily assemble virtual worlds with assets and media files directly in their web browser on flat devices. This enables seamless integration with the Sketchfab library, giving users easy access to millions of models – for free and without any special 3D knowledge. In addition, it offers native support for the VROID VRM format, so users with advanced skills can easily import and use their existing models.

The second way to build is with PlayCanvas, an advanced game engine style creation tool that allows users to create more interactive experiences directly in the browser. PlayCanvas seamlessly deploys your builds to Viverse and can be used both with and without code.

The launch of Viverse Create comes on the heels of HTC’s recently announced Polygon Streaming solution, which enables companies to flexibly integrate high-resolution, interactive 3D models into their workflows on a range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops/PCs or XR headsets.

With Viverse Create you can create virtual outfits.

Whether used for a single object or to manage dozens of assets in the same world, Polygon Streaming combines server-side processing with client-side rendering, significantly reducing bandwidth and processing power requirements.

Polygon Streaming streams the actual 3D data of an asset, transmitting only the necessary polygon data for the sections of the 3D model the user is currently viewing, at the level of detail that corresponds to the distance to the object. This device-agnostic approach ensures that everyone has democratized access to next-generation immersive graphics and interactivity.
