Subscribe is asking for idea-based group exhibition proposals for its open call in NYC from October 1-31, 2024. Five winning proposals will receive an exhibition budget of up to $10,000 and become Apexart exhibitions in our NYC space as part of our 2025–26 exhibition season. Curators, artists, writers, and creative individuals, regardless of experience level or location, are invited to submit a proposal online.
The submission process
Proposals should describe focused, idea-driven, original group exhibitions. Biographical information, resumes, links or images will not be accepted. Submissions must be no more than 500 words and must be submitted in English. Judges will evaluate proposals based on personal interest, cultural assessment, content and communication of the idea. Examples of successful proposals can be found here.
The selection process
Rather than convening a five-person panel from New York to review hundreds of ideas, apexart’s crowdsourced voting system uses hundreds of judges from more than 75 countries to review proposals on their own schedule. The jury is comprised of more than 600 people from a wide range of professional backgrounds and international locations, including students from 20 participating university courses who will evaluate the proposals. Proposals are anonymous and randomly selected to ensure that each submission receives equal consideration, resulting in more than 20,000 votes, or nearly 500 proposals. apexart staff does not influence the jury’s results in any way.
The results
Each of the five winning proposals will receive a $10,000 exhibition budget, our exhibition brochure printed and mailed to over six thousand international recipients, and will be part of apexart’s 2025–26 exhibition season. apexart will provide comprehensive administrative and logistical support and help curators turn their original ideas into apexart exhibitions. Exhibition curators must work within the funds provided to transform their winning proposals into focused, notable exhibitions.
