Elon Musk’s own AI system Grok created videos of him committing an armed robbery and the images are surprisingly realistic.
Not long after the X/Twitter CEO Musk took part in a messy conversation with controversial former President Donald TrumpPeople used his own AI technology to create a video of both of them committing crimes.
Musk claims to be a supporter of free speech despite threatening to sue Competitor Platform ThreadsThe Anti-Defamation League and other critics of him. He also Fake news articles reposted with Ring-Wing to give his 195 million followers a feel for it.
Now his own beliefs have been thrown back at him after the AI visuals studio The Dor Brothers created an AI Deepfake Clip portraying him as a criminal.
They used Grok, an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by Musk’s company xAI, to create footage of Musk robbing a convenience store at gunpoint with a gun blazing. The AI-generated clip then shows Musk being led away in handcuffs by police officers.
They captioned the clip: “Did someone say uncensored? Thanks @grok for bringing us all some fun.”
Other generated clips showed Trump and Kamala Harris doing the same thing.
Some viewers seemed interested in the quality of the images and asked whether we will soon be able to distinguish what is a deepfake and what is real.
“AI has gone so crazy! Who knows what is real anymore,” one person wrote.
Someone else argued: “So that’s the scary part. No matter which side you’re on, even if there was real video evidence of people committing crimes, it can be dismissed as AI.”
“This technology is getting better and better. Many people are easily deceived/manipulated.”
Another wrote: “We opened the door and let this in.”
One person argued: “We are about one model update away from completely believable deepfakes.”
