A piece of news that I found hardly surprising has come out that Dave Filoni is the co-author of The Mandalorian and Grogu with Jon Favreau. I know that was never officially stated anywhere, but was I the only one who just assumed that would be the case? After all, Favreau was the main creator, but Filoni was co-writer The Mandalorian Show with him and this is a sequel.
In a recent article by THR that Filoni is actually the co-author of The Mandalorian and Grogu. I think the most interesting thing about this story is how some star Wars Fans have reacted to this news. Some consider this a bad sign after what we experienced in Ahsoka. At the same time, I think season 3 of Mando the one in which Filoni was least involved and which was also the worst of the three?
All we can expect from this film is a film that is as good as Mando Season 1 and 2. I actually don’t think this was ever planned as a movie, but Lucasfilm needs some money at the box office. All Favreau (also director) and Filoni can do here is make the best movie they can. The task is simple, but not easy. Make a compelling movie with these two beloved characters and what happens next.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if Thrawn was involved as the main villain of the film. After all, in the short footage shown at D23, we see that the Empire are somehow antagonists. That means The Mandalorian and Grogu is also a sequel to Ahsoka by Filoni. Therefore, it is likely that the events of the film will have an impact on Ahsoka Season 2 has already been given the green light.
As I said, I am neither surprised by this news nor worried about it. Ultimately, these two have some good star Wars and some not so good star Wars stories so far. I just hope this is one of the good ones. However, I still think it will feel like a TV movie to the fans.
What do you think of the news co-authored by Dave Filoni? The Mandalorian and Grogu? Are you surprised or worried by this news? As always, you’ll find our thoughts below.
