Jelly Roll was stopped by the Coast Guard as he left his concert in Put-in-Bay

PUT-IN-BAY, Ohio (WTVG) – Superstar Jelly Roll says the U.S. Coast Guard stopped him as he was leaving his Put-in-Bay performance Wednesday night. Jelly Roll, a Grammy-nominated artist, was headlining the Bash on the Bay music festival on the island on Wednesday.

“So we left Bash on the Bay and got stopped by the Coast Guard!” Jelly Roll said in an Instagram story. “It was crazy. We had the county sheriff with us but it was actually OK. We’re back on the road. Thanks to everyone who was concerned.”

The Ottawa County Sheriff told 13 Action News that the Coast Guard conducted the stop as a random safety check. Officers said there were no citations and they were allowed to continue driving.

He had posted an Instagram story earlier that evening saying he had never been to a show that required a boat ride.

“This is so cool,” he wrote under the post.

The star had a great year and was named Newcomer of the Year at the Country Music Awards.

Bash on the Bay, the island’s annual country music festival, continues Thursday night with Hardy headlining. For more information on the music festival, visit this link.
