DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) – An annual gala will be held next month, but new kickoff events are expected to draw more attention this year.
The Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MOCA) is hosting its 11th annual “Light Duluth Teal Gala“ at the DECC at the end of September.
MOCA is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to funding ovarian cancer research, providing support to women and families, and raising awareness.
MOCA board member Kristine Greer, an ovarian cancer survivor herself, says the symptoms can be difficult to recognize.
“There is no early detection test for ovarian cancer and this is something we are very passionate about at MOCA. We are raising much-needed research funds for an early detection test, better treatments and one day a cure,” Greer said.
The Light Duluth Teal Gala will take place on September 28th.
Before that, Bent Paddle is hosting an event on September 1st from 12pm to 2pm to raise funds for MOCA.
Visitors can purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a growler and a gift bag from the brewery.
On September 3, Wild State Cider will host an event from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The proceeds from the sale will also benefit cancer research.
