Bandhan Bank on Thursday announced the launch of ‘Avni’, a savings account exclusively for women.
Avni offers a debit card that offers free access to airport lounges, personal accident insurance of Rs 10 lakh and a card loss liability of Rs 3.5 lakh, among other benefits. Avni also offers 25 percent discount on locker rentals and 50 percent discount on gold loan processing fees. Customers are required to maintain an average quarterly balance of Rs 25,000.
Ratan Kumar Kesh, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (acting), Bandhan Bank, said, “We owe a great deal of the success of Bandhan Bank to our women customers. Bandhan was founded with the aim of empowering women. Under EEB (Emerging Entrepreneurs Business), the bank has supported 20 million women entrepreneurs and given them an opportunity to earn a living and improve the lifestyle of their families. With this specially curated savings account, we aim to further the efforts of women empowerment.”
The product launch follows Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das’s call for banks to develop innovative products and service offerings and leverage their branch networks to attract household savings as deposits.
More products from Bandhan tailored to specific segments like senior citizens, NRIs and students may be in the pipeline.
The bank has also introduced a company-wide loyalty program called ‘Bandhan Bank Delights’, where customers can collect reward points (called ‘Delight Points’) and use the points earned to make purchases.
