Shirley J. Fairman, age 95, of DuBois, PA, died Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at The Fountains at DuBois.
She was born on October 25, 1928 in Bitumen, PA, the daughter of the late Alexander and Cora Belle (Sommerson) Nesman.
She married Ernest E. Fairman. He predeceased her in 1982.
Shirley was a lifelong member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, first in Tamarack and then in DuBois. She was very active in missionary work, both here and abroad. Shirley grew African violets, was an avid knitter, loved to crochet, and enjoyed working in her garden. Most of all, she was a very loving mother who cared deeply for her family.
Shirley is survived by her children (Ernest “Pete” Fairman and Mark Fairman and his wife Debra, both of DuBois, PA, Brenda Grossman of Las Vegas, NV, and Carol Fairman of Columbia, SC), numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great grandchild.
Three brothers (Harry, Herb and Howard Nesman) and a sister (Betty Hayes) predeceased her.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Ward officiating.
Burial will take place at Morningside Cemetery.
