Nicki Minaj asks her fans to stop asking questions in the Ice Spice controversy

Nicki Minaj asks her fans to stop asking questions in the Ice Spice controversy

Nicki Minaj had a lot to say on August 21. The rapper didn’t name any names, but made a lot of statements, all of which were directed at a few specific people. The people in question? The couple she unfollowed on Instagram that same day: JT and Ice Spice. Minaj cut ties with the up-and-coming rappers. She then criticized younger rappers who sign to white record labels instead of her own label, Heavy On It. THEN she wagged her finger at her fans, claiming she was sick of talking about “other people.”

There’s obviously a lot of explaining to do here. We’ve already covered Nicki Minaj’s comments about labels, which you can read here. However, the tirade about “other people” was perhaps the most intriguing piece of content Minaj produced on Wednesday. Addressing her fanbase directly, the rapper said she has no plans to talk about people who are outside of her inner circle. “Don’t ask me about nobody,” she reiterated. “If you don’t see somebody around me, don’t ask me about them.” Nicki Minaj then advised curious parties to direct any questions to those other people.

Nicki Minaj told Barbz they don’t know the “truth”

“Go talk to them,” the rapper added. “The truth is, you don’t want to know the truth.” The last line reads a bit like a Minaj bar, but it also suggests there’s more to the story than fans get to see. It’s not a stretch to conclude that the rapper is talking about JT and Ice Spice. Nicki Minaj has had very public feuds with both of these artists. In Ice Spice’s case, the relationship went from mutual support and collaboration to fighting within a year. Minaj and Spice collaborated on “Princess Diana” together in 2023, and now they don’t even follow each other on Instagram.

In May 2024, lyrics allegedly from Ice Spice leaked online. In the lyrics, the “Munch” rapper complained about Nicki Minaj, calling her “ungrateful and delusional” and comparing Minaj to her mother. From there, Ice Spice’s alleged lyrics criticized Minaj for being “jealous” of the younger rapper owning her masters. Whether true or not, these leaked lyrics were apparently the straw that broke the camel’s back. Minaj and Spice are at odds. Don’t ask Minaj about it like she wishes, though.
