Whataburger in Anderson holds groundbreaking ceremony ahead of summer opening at the corner of Concord Road and 2900 North Main Street in Anderson.
It’s been nearly three months since Whataburger held its groundbreaking event to celebrate the construction of its new restaurant at 2900 N. Main St. in Anderson County.
Anderson will hold its grand opening on Monday, August 26th at 11am. The dining room and drive-thru will be open and specials will be offered.
The first two people to enter the restaurant and use the drive-thru will receive a free Whataburger for a year and the first 200 will receive a Whataburger gift bag.
Preston Hughes, Whataburger’s operations manager, said the new restaurant in Anderson will feature an “open-concept dining room and a state-of-the-art kitchen to serve guests.”

Never eaten Whataburger? What you should know
Harmon Dobson opened a Whataburger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, in August 1950. His goal was to create a delicious burger that would make customers say, “What a burger!” 74 years later, the eatery has grown to over 1,030 locations in 16 states.
Whataburger is best known for its famous orange and white striped A-frame storefront inspired by Dobson’s love of flying, customizable burgers, and classic fries. In 1962, the Whataburger menu was expanded to include fried patties and fries.
Today, Whataburger’s menu offers a variety of menu options, such as chicken sandwiches, breakfast items, salads, boneless chicken wings and milkshakes.
“Bringing Whataburger to South Carolina is a dream come true for me,” said Ed Nelson, president and CEO of Whataburger. “As a local, I always knew that our state’s rich culture and warm hospitality would be a perfect fit for Whataburger’s tradition of bold flavors and exceptional service.”
