The BMW Championship begins on Thursday, August 20, at Castle Pines Golf Club in Castle Rock, Colorado.
The tournament is the penultimate round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. The best 70 golfers of the season made it to the first round, which was held from August 15 to 18. For the BMW Championships, the field was reduced to 50 participants and only those who finish in the top 30 here will advance to the third and final round.
Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama, who won the inaugural FedEx St. Jude Championship event, will lead the field at Castle Rock. Viktor Hovland of Norway, recently crowned Olympic gold medalist Scottie Scheffler and three-time champion Rory McIlroy are all in the running.
