CULLMAN, Alabama. – This Sunday, August 25, residents will have the opportunity to visit one of the area’s non-profits, the Good Samaritan Health Clinic. The clinic and its staff are preparing an open house to celebrate the clinic’s 20th anniversary in the Cullman community and to mark the milestone of $1.9 million raised to build a new and state-of-the-art clinic building.
“The open house is this Sunday, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Good Samaritan Health Clinic,” said Executive Director Jolanda Hutson. “It’s timely, as we are in the middle of a capital campaign to build a new facility.”
The new facility is a clinic with a floor space of approximately 475 square meters, four examination rooms, a cardio room to promote wellness and prevention, a drive-in medication dispensing facility and a large waiting area that can be used for patient education outside of office hours.
Hutson said, “The goal of this open house is to reach out to community members who may not know much about what Good Samaritan is about, who we serve, what services we provide and the impact we have on the community.”
Since 2004, the clinic has treated thousands of Cullman County residents who are uninsured, whether due to unemployment or joblessness, financial hardship, or loss of coverage through a spouse’s insurance plan. Good Samaritan Health Clinic is proud to offer the area’s uninsured exceptional care at no cost to patients.
Through partnerships with other providers in the area, Good Samaritan’s physicians are able to provide primary care as well as treat chronic and long-term illnesses and disabilities. Twice a year, the Lions Club International Mobile Eye Clinic stops at Good Samaritan to provide residents in need with free, properly fitted, prescription eyeglasses. Acute and urgent care, dental exams, mental health services, hearing screenings and other referrals for services are also available to Good Samaritan’s clients.
“Many people without health insurance are just a diagnosis away from despair, fear and anxiety, and potentially financial hardship,” Hutson said. “We want to stand by them, encourage them, and help them get the health care they need.”
