Flooding leads to building evacuations and road closures throughout western Connecticut

DANBURY, Connecticut (WFSB) – Roads are closed and buildings are being evacuated throughout western Connecticut.

The City of Danbury reports that numerous roads are affected by flooding, creating dangerous driving conditions.

Currently, Shelter Rock Road, White Street, West Street, Main Street at Wooster Street and Osborne Street at Fifth Street are closed.

Due to flooding, emergency crews evacuated the Glen Apartments on Main Street.

Rescue crews are also responding to 160 Shelter Rock Road, where the city says a landslide occurred.

They say the situation is under control and under control.

The building was evacuated.

In Southbury, police asked residents to stay in their homes.

They say emergency crews are deployed across the city to respond to emergencies and road closures.

Roads closed include Main Street North at Main Street South, Route 172 at Winmar Drive, Route 172 at STS, Luna Trail from 215 to Georges Hill, and Spruce Brook Road at New Road.

In Watertown, police warned residents not to attempt to drive through the floodwaters.

Several streets are closed including Sandbank Road, Riverside from Henry to Main Street, Colonial Avenue in front of Swift MS, Main Street from Knight Street to Belden Street, and Davis Street near the library.

“Watertown Police, Fire and Public Works Departments are all staffed and working hard to clear debris from the streets. Roads will be reopened as soon as it is safe to do so,” police said on Facebook.
