BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Birmingham police released video Wednesday showing the vehicle of the suspect in the Maurice Turner murder case and are asking the public for help in identifying him.
The video shows a white SUV leaving the scene of the shooting that took place last month.
On July 17, at approximately 1:30 a.m., dispatchers alerted officers to a Shotspotter report stating that approximately 10 shots had been fired.
When officers arrived on scene and searched the area, they could not find any injured people or anyone suspicious.
At around 1:51 a.m., emergency responders received a call that a person had been shot in the same area, in the 800 block of Jasper Road.
When officers arrived on scene, they entered the apartment and found the 52-year-old gymnast lying unconscious on the kitchen floor with gunshot wounds.
Birmingham fire and rescue services pronounced him dead at the scene.
