RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh has started its journey towards National education policy as the preparation process begins Writing a textbook And Curriculum development for Students in accordance with the standards of NCERTChhattisgarh is the first state to take this initiative, with an aim to introduce changes in the curriculum for classes 1 to 3 and 6 by the next academic year, officials said.
Prime Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has urged and directed the officials to expedite the process of serious implementation of the National Education Policy in Chhattisgarh. CM Sai on Tuesday initiated the organisation of a two-day orientation workshop on textbook writing at the state level to discuss and make necessary changes in textbooks in line with the new education policy. The workshop will focus on planning the improvements to be made in textbooks for classes 1-3 and 6 from next year. The State Council for Educational Research and Training is leading the orientation program, officials said.
School Education Secretary Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi stressed during the workshop that students should be taught in their local language from the elementary level. “The emphasis on textbooks should be on providing a practical approach to understanding the lessons and efforts are being made to improve them under the guidance of NCERT. Chhattisgarh is currently working on introducing 20 languages in textbooks and efforts are being made to make the textbooks more creative and attractive and to give them a touch of local relevance,” said Pardeshi.
In a virtual address, Professor Ranjana Arora, Head of Curriculum Division, NCERT New Delhi, said that Chhattisgarh is the first state to start preparing textbooks for its schools in collaboration with NCERT in line with the National Education Policy. NCERT and SCERT together will do significant and commendable work. She said that during the process, SCERT experts would take into account the local language, dialect and peculiarities of the state.
