Fridge Hack: Save Money by Keeping It Cool
For food safety reasons, keep your refrigerator as cold as possible.
Three restaurants in Las Cruces were notified on July 1, 2024, that they had not obtained a new operating license from the New Mexico Department of Environmental Quality.
The department administers the food safety program, which protects public health through the licensing and inspection of food establishments.
In all three cases, the restaurants had failed to pay the permit fee for a valid permit from the department.
In its letters, the NMED advised restaurants to cease operations until permits were updated. Each had 30 days to apply for an updated permit and pay a $25 late fee.
These restaurants were:
- Pepe’s Restaurant Inc., 1405 W. Picacho Ave.
- La Finca Meat Market #2, 601 E. Thorpe Rd.
- Laney’s Lunchbox, 1101 Fort Selden Rd.
Other restaurants that received a letter for non-compliance with Doña Ana County food licensing laws included:
- El Veloz, 37 Swannack Road in Vado
- Ortega’s Grocery and Meat Market, 2167 NcNutt Road in Sunland Park
- Ernesto’s Restaurant, 200 Anthony Drive in Anthony
The restaurants had not updated their websites to indicate whether their locations were compliant on August 12, 2024.
The July compliance list did not include any restaurants that were listed as non-compliant in June.
